philGRAD is also there for you during this challenging time of the Corona Pandemic!

Exchange your matters with like-minded researchers

Sometimes it is difficult to write a dissertation alone and on your own. That is why we support you with regular Accountability Groups with like-minded people and/or with individual writing advice.

philFAELTIG is a platform on Rocket.Chat for joint learning and working around the dissertation. PhD students of philGRAD help each other by exchanging information about the work on their dissertation and offer tools to better deal with the 'usual' problems such as phases of lack of concentration. But it is also about networking and the opportunity to meet like-minded people from our faculty and to stay in touch - even from home!
You can find further information here.

The philGRAD lunch break (always Wednesdays 12-1 pm) is an open online format that lives from seeing, hearing and exchanging ideas. You will receive access data via email from the philGRAD office.

philGRAD has succeeded in converting the majority of events to online versions for the duration of the pandemic. As always, registration can be done by sending an email to the philGRAD office.

Financial Support

The Heine Research Academies are now offering emergency corona aid for doctoral and post-doctoral researchers of the HHU who are in financial distress due to the corona pandemic. Further information is available here.

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities also offers a corona emergency aid for tariff employees: The Covid 19 pandemic has significantly complicated and delayed the work of many academics on their research project, be it a doctorate or habilitation. Particularly hard hit are those who have already arrived shortly before their goal, but now need a little more time than originally planned.
The Dean has set up a support program for those cases in which the departments are no longer able to provide funding for the extension of such employment. Further information can be found here.

By extending the time limit, the BMBF has created planning security for academics in the qualification phase during the corona pandemic. The amendments to the WissZeitVG apply retroactively since 01 March 2020.
