Good Scientific Practice at Heinrich Heine University

"Scientific work is based on fundamental principles which are the same in all disciplines. The first principle amongst these is honesty towards oneself and others. The basic prerequisite for scientific work the fairness of all researchers. It is here that the University, as a place of research, teaching and support of young scientists, has an institutional responsibility. In the light of these considerations, Heinrich Heine University is pursuing the safeguarding of scientific quality standards, in particular integrity and accuracy in research, as a core responsibility of its members and affiliates." (Source: Foreword, in: "principles of safeguarding good scientific practice at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf", dated 19. Feb. 2014, p. 6.).

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities takes care of this task especially by binding all its doctoral researchers, who have been enrolled in the new Doctoral Degree Regulations of 2017, to complete a workshop on "Good Scientific Practice". Also members of philGRAD, who are enrolled to the former Doctoral Degree Regulations before 2017, have to fulfil this commitment, too.

The workshop "Good Scientific Practice" is offered periodically by philGRAD and it's, of course, free of charge for all doctoral researchers of the faculty. Click undefinedhere to get any information to the workshop and the enrollment.

If you have any questions or requests, please feel free to contact the philGRAD office at any time. You also have the opportunity to contact the Ombudsperson Good Scientific Practice.

For this purpose, a standing "undefinedcommission to ensure good scientific practice" has been set up which officially looks into any such matters and reports directly to the President’s office. The Ombudsperson on Good Scientific Practice of the faculty of Arts and Humanities is also part of the commission.
